Construction Updates
24.08.01 WESTERN SPIRIT
Completed & looking forward to the coming Fall bike season! This three story, mixed use commercial building houses Western Spirit – a local company offering guided bike trips into the great outdoors. The typical office operations of the company weren’t the only thing to keep in mind, with significant space required for bike storage & workshops plus a smooth site flow to allow for tour groups, shuttles, and trailers to navigate the property with ease. Between trips the staff needed space to unwind, so a generous indoor & outdoor living area was provided, in addition to bunk rooms for temporary accommodation. A shaded deck and spacious conference room top the building, providing a potential fabulous function space to the community. We can’t wait to see the building come to life, and are envious of the views out to La Sals & The Rim! Book a trip with Western Spirit and see the building firsthand!
24.06.24 MURPHY FLATS #401
A personal project for A2, this shipping container-turned-tiny home has undergone a recent interior re-fit. Additional insulation was needed, which meant it was a perfect time to refresh the interior finishes and casework.
In tiny homes, storage and outdoor living are both hugely important. New kitchen and bedroom cabinetry, along with multi-functional shelves in the living space, mean that everything has a designated space to get tucked away.
The rim-facing deck wraps the front of the home, turning the outdoors into the primary living space and providing a connection to the neighboring Murphy Flats & communal gardens. Extended overhangs and container doors help protect from Western sun in the summer, and provide shelter for bike storage – always important when living near trailheads in Moab!

24.04.18 ARROYO CROSSING SELF-HELP + TOWNHOMES
Affordable housing is a topic near and dear to our hearts. Arroyo Crossing is a subdivision project where the land was donated to and managed by the Moab Area Community Land Trust. The project will ultimately be a mix of a variety of typologies from single family homes to multifamily apartments. The land is leased at a very low cost to developers and owners to build housing. A^2 has been involved in two aspects of the development:
Self Help Single family homes, 20+ homes in varying stages of completion, for the Housing Authority of Southeastern Utah (HASU).
Upcoming "Tract E Townhomes", 27 attached townhomes for HASU.
The photos below include renderings for the Tract E project and some construction photos of the self-help homes. We look forward to our continued involvement in this important housing project for our community!
24.02.20 ST. DANES BATH HOUSE
This bathhouse is a small commercial project for a repeat client, who we adore working with. Although the details are thrifty, the overall form is all about function. All entry and exit doors are covered by deep 4’ minimum roof overhangs that are supported by roof extensions at each open end. This also adds to an architectural feel that is high end than the reality of the building’s price tag. TWS Construction has put the vision onto the ground at an exceedingly quick pace in order to ensure it is ready in time for the high season - just around the corner in March.

Witnessing the transformation from 3 dimensional models to reality is always a rewarding journey. Stay tuned for updates as framing continues, blending modern design with the breathtaking landscape that Castle Valley offers. We're grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this community and can't wait to unveil the final masterpiece! Thank you JRJ Construction for your hard work and attention to detail.
24.01.17 highlands residence
Close to town, but so private, this lot has gorgeous views of the right hand of Mill Creek. The design focuses on privacy, function and the surroundings for a large family and their aging parents. We are so lucky to work with Porter Homes (Grand Junction), Susannah Holmberg Studios (SLC) & Resource Engineering Group (Crested Butte) along with an incredible team of subcontractors on this exciting project.
